This morning I have to go the city to present a plan for our new business. My company provides marketing solutions for large companies. Are you having suicidal thoughts or spending large amounts of time isolating your self from friends, family and work colleagues? If you have answered yes to any of the above questions then you may benefit from counselling or psychotherapy from a trained professional in your local area.

Ultimately whether or not you need counselling, psychotherapy or therapy has to be up to you. Only you know how you feel and there is no point seeking out and paying for such a wervice if you don’t feel you are going to benefit.

Here are some relationship advice tips from my years of working with men around the country, learning how men think and counseling couples:

1. When a man is silent it is dangerous but when a woman is silent the likelihood of the relationship being over is very close; many times to the point of no return.

2. When a woman is turned off mentally or emotionally, turning off the intimacy and the sexual comes easyily. When a woman is turned off emotionally, the intimacy and sexual is turned off easily too. Just know that it is at this point that the spiritual doesn’t stand a chance. If God has anything to say, then even He has to get in line with the rest of the men in life that have ticked her off! (Sorry, God, but it’s true.)

3. Women detach themselves from men for reasons that men don’t understand and do not have a clue about. The detachment is sometimes cold, ugly and controlled with a bossy attitude and mean look. This author would like to suggest that, while I understand what men want (to fix the problem quickly), you give women in this state of mind their space because if not, you will just be making it worse. Just be available if and when she is ready to re-connect.

4. When dealing with confrontation and frustration, women feel that they are “sleeping with the enemy“. That is, women find it very difficult to make love or even make nice until they and their man have dealt with the underlying issues in their relationship.

Men on the other hand believe that they are really, “behind enemy lines”. That is, they feel overwhelmed, surrounded with problems everywhere, and they start looking for a way to escape. Making love is a great strategy to them (make her feel real good; have some fun and deflect attention from the irresolvable problem).

The problem is that when the battle ensues and it is over then there are no winners. The problems aren’t resolved and no one had any fun!!

5. Men are birthed and wired naturally to protect their women and their children. Women however, confuse men when they position themselves in enemy garb (become super-aggressive, phsyical, etc.) because at that point men become confused and extremely vulnerable because they never prepared themselves, neither has anyone ever trained them, to fight women.

This is when both the man and the woman need to make a pit stop to release some pressure because both will blame the other and expect the other to man up, woman in or take responsibility. Of course confession is good for the soul and we should take responsibility for our actions. But if that is where they leave the struggle between them it can become a blame game and in that context, owning up to your part of the problem is too convicting and serves the purposes of the past only and not the future.

What is needed more is to focus on resolving the underlying issues once and for all. With an attitude of deep loving and caring for the other person.

Of course, speaking as a man, a little fun and romance DOES help make solving relationship problems a little easier! :-)
