New Data Shows the Riskiest Drivers in the UK

Filed under: Insurance — Tags: — admin @ 12:13 pm

Mobile DJs and trainee footballers are officially the most difficult to insure professions according to some recent data published this week. The research shows the effect that occupations can have on car insurance premiums as it compares the UK’s most expensive professions with the cheapest.

Not surprisingly, the huge number of night time motorway miles they drive helps to push the traveling DJ’s average premium to a whopping £6,810 a year. Not far behind is the trainee footballer whose youth and ability to afford a super car make him a serious risk, with an average premium of £6,624 a year (about 2 day’s pay).

As for the least expensive occupations there are no surprises. Bottom of the expense list comes the commercial airline pilot whose ability to land a 150 ton plane goes some way to reassuring the insurance companies into providing an average premium of just £321 a year. Alongside the pilot are slightly less well known professions. Being a “China Restorer” will get you a premium of just £336 a year, while if you call yourself a “Toy Maker” you’ll be looking at a premium of just under £338 a year.

Are Insurance Important? Are They Necessary?

Filed under: Insurance — Tags: — admin @ 6:21 am

To keep yourself and your assets protected, don’t think of insurance as a luxury. Insurance may seem like wasted money when you don’t need it, but when you’re in a crisis situation you’ll be happy to have it. Don’t skimp on your coverage, and get all the insurance you think you may need.

Check with the company that holds your car insurance or life insurance policies, for example, to see if they also offer renter’s insurance. Many companies offer significant discounts when you hold multiple policy types with them. Don’t assume that it’s the best price though, make sure to always have quotes from a few companies before making a choice.

Consider adding additional insurance onto the policy that is provided by your work. A group insurance coverage does not move with you if you change jobs. Also check your personal pension if you have enough money in there. These days most people do not stay with the same company through till retirement so an insurance policy tied to your job is not as useful as it used to be. Make sure and have coverage of your own that is not tied down to a particular employer.

My Dependent Brother Who Will Make My Parents Life Miserable

Filed under: Insurance — Tags: — admin @ 1:46 am

My brother kept bugging me about getting a Landlord Insurance. I usually fight with my brother because most of the time, we have opposing ideas. Whenever we fight, our parents would always take his side. That’s alright for me since I’m older than my brother. But sometimes, I think our parents are going too far in terms of favoring him. My brother is becoming too spoiled. I wouldn’t be surprised if in the future, he wouldn’t learn how to be independent. I can see it clearly in my mind. Many years from now, my brother would still live in this house with our parents and rely on them for his financial needs. He will be such a headache for our parents when that time comes. Our parents are getting older and older and we need to be independent soon. We should not take our parents for granted so I have to teach my brother a lesson.

Commercial General Liability Insurance: an Emergency Exit

Filed under: Insurance — Tags: — admin @ 5:40 pm

Commercial general liability insurance is a back door offer for businesses especially from a claim of other persons such as their customers or consumers on complaints and files for damages or loss. It most definitely keeps a handy way for businesses to escape from a time when its services have not attained its quality level of performance and have been approached by a customer for a damage payment. Even though it is not supposed to be viewed that way, most aggravated consumers see it as a responsibility passed on to another agency, indirectly related or concerned with the situation they are complaining with. After complaining with the company with the concerns, they will then be forwarded to the insurance company. Nevertheless, the commercial general liability insurance guarantees that the complaining party will be assisted with an applicable payment for the damages like a customer service agent willing to assist the customer on issues of the services or products of the company they represent.

DIfferent Insurance Laws for Different States

Filed under: Insurance — Tags: — admin @ 12:22 am

Getting to know the insurance differences between California and Florida has been an interesting experience to say the least. Everything is just slightly different. I check out a renters insurance for Florida residents website and quickly saw that although things were mostly similar Florida has a bit more emphasis on things like flooding and hurricanes. California has its earthquakes and wild fires but nothing even remotely like what Florida has to deal with their constant weather craziness.

I also noticed that the car insurance laws were a bit different. This wasn’t very surprising because I knew that car insurance laws are a bit different in every state. Its always a good move to get up to date on your current states laws that way you know what you will need out of your insurance policy. This goes for everything not just renters insurance and car insurance. Being educated is always helpful.

Everything is Going to Be Alright

Filed under: Insurance — Tags: — admin @ 8:44 am

When I was twenty one years old I was in a horrific car accident. My injuries were so severe that I couldn’t walk for a year after the accident. What had happened was, my friend and I were driving along, minding our own business when a drunk driver crossed the lanes of the street and hit us head on. My friend was lucky enough to escape with minor injuries, so that’s something to be thankful for at least. When I finally got out of hospital, I still couldn’t go back to work as a waitress. My bills were piling up. How was I supposed to take care of any of my responsibilities when my injuries prevented me from taking care of myself? Well, on the advice of my mother I started looking into filing an injury claim. They didn’t charge me anything until I won my claim and I was able to pay off my debts while I healed.

What Insurers Need to Know About Your Subsidence

Filed under: Insurance — Tags: — admin @ 11:38 pm

To be able to asses the potential risk your property presents, most insurance companies will need to know specifics of any form of subsidence problems it has suffered from in the past. From a property insurance perspective, any form of cases of landslip and heave must also be revealed and (for the purposes of this article) will be listed under the name ‘subsidence’. So bearing this in mind, the typical questions you might find on an insurance application are listed below:

o Has an insurance claim ever been made for subsidence, landslip or heave?

o Are there any present signs and symptoms of damage as a result of subsidence, landslip or heave?

o Has your property ever been monitored as a result of heave, subsidence or landslip?

o Has your property suffered from structural movements or settlement due to subsidence, landslip or heave?

Every occurrence of subsidence is regarded as an individual event, and each will be classed as being a “material fact” that you have to reveal to the insurance company. If your home has suffered more than one subsidence occurrence, you will be required to answer the subsequent questions for each and every case individually:

o Is there a record of mining below or close to your home?

o In which year did the subsidence occurrence take place?

o Was the primary building affected?

o We’re any other buildings impacted?

o What caused the the motion?

o Was the cause of the movement amended?

o Is a survey record available?

o If a survey can be found, does it state that the movement is historic and insignificant?

o If accessible, is the survey analysis written by a professional structural engineer?

In just about all instances, if you’re providing a survey report by a structural engineer, they have to be part of a relevant professional awarding as well as a regulatory body. Such bodies include the the institute of Civil Engineeres and also the Institute of Structural Engineeres. The structural engineer will also be expected to have the accreditations FICE, MIStructE, FIStructE or MICE following their name.

You will additionally be asked about any trees which are over 5 metres in height and fewer than seven metres away from any part of the structures on your residence. As a result, you might be requested to answer the following questions (for clarification purposes) about each individual tree that falls into the previously mentioned class:

o What variety of tree is it?

o Precisely how tall is it?

o Precisely how far from your property is it?

o Exactly where on the property is the tree positioned?

o Has the tree previously induced any form of damage to the premises?

o Is the tree subject to a Preservation Order?

o Has the tree previously been pollarded or likewise maintained?

Because trees are typically found to be the direct cause (or an exacerbating factor) of many subsidence occurrences, insurers need to be made aware of them. Trees cause subsidence whenever their roots enter shrinkable clay-based soils and draw out excessive quantities of moisture from them. The more moisture they take, the much more probable the soil is to shrink as it becomes drier. As the soils reduce in size, any buildings foundations resting on top have the potential to move or subside. Roots can also cause damage to drain pipes as they look for the moisture that gathers on the exterior of pipe lines. Though it is possible that they might disengage a pipe-joint during growth, roots may enter a pipe which has previously experienced damage. Damaged or leaking drain pipes can also be the cause of subsidence.

If the building has experienced a subsidence problem in the past, chances are that you will have issues obtaining an insurance policy, but it is crucial that you do. House subsidence insurance protection should always be determined according to the risk your property is at currently, as opposed to the danger it presented while still subsiding.
